This is roughly, 'cause I had a full M when I checked, had rider training, and am above the age where insurance is higher for males (25), but I was getting quoted 2700 to 3000 a few years back. And it would stay high for a couple of years because they were not counting experience from a few years back when I last had a bike. Your rate will be higher because of age and experience, and by the way some of your g2 licence restrictions will be back during your M1/2 period (which you can shorten by taking rider training).

The price stopped me cold in my tracks, there is a lot cheaper way to get into motorcycling, I'll send you a link to a previous answer but basically its start with a small, affordable road legal bike, with driver training, keep it a couple of years while you learn how to ride, and you'll find the rates drop hugely. I now have a 1000cc (FZ-1) and am paying under $1000. The savings in insurance means my small bike was "free" because it, its insurance and maintenance over the two years was way less than the $2500 or so I saved on one years worth of insurance on any 600 to 1000cc sport bike. I chose a really small bike, but anything 250cc and under, including a scooter, will do pretty much the same and the insurance may be as low as $250.
